We act for small to medium sized businesses in the Inverness area as well as throughout the rest of the Highlands and Islands with regard to various commercial matters for which they seek advice and guidance.
The following is an example of some of the work which we undertake regularly but it is not an exhaustive list and you should feel free to contact us to discuss any particular situation that your business is currently or potentially facing.

Business Set-Up: Advice on all legal aspects to consider when setting up in business, e.g. what legal entity is best for you such as whether you are a sole trader, partnership or company. This may include the drafting of a partnership agreement or the registration of a company.

Business Terms and Conditions: If you set out these with organisations who you are going to do business with then this will provide certainty and a framework for your business dealings which reduces the risk of a dispute at a later stage e.g. payment terms, service level agreements, when the contract can be terminated and provision for interest on late payment.

Commercial Disputes: Despite having sound business terms and conditions, it is sometimes an unfortunate situation that conflicts will occur. This may be about the interpretation of a business condition which can lead to a court action being raised against you or which you require raising. If you have such a dispute then we can assist in interpreting the terms of the contract and if a court action is necessary ensure your representation to a satisfactory conclusion.
- Internal Business Disputes: These sometimes happen despite all previously gone well and can involve for example a partnership or company dispute as to the running of the business, or the leaving or introduction of an individual.
