Discharge of Securities
Once you have paid your mortgage off in full then your lender should give you the option of them keeping your deeds in storage or granting a discharge of the mortgage to you and returning the deeds for your safe keeping.
We can advise you on such matters and if you do require a discharge of security this will generally involve us obtaining your deeds from the lender, preparing a deed of discharge for the lender to sign stating that they have given up their security over your property and then registering this at the Land Register of Scotland. Your property title at the Register will then be free of your previous mortgage being recorded against it.
We are happy to discuss such matters with you and provide a competitive quotation.
