In a slow or falling market, such as 2007 - 2011, the actual value of your property could be falling away whilst you are holding out for an unrealistic price.

HSPC

  • Are there broken fixtures or fittings that could be easily and cheaply fixed?
  • If you have pets or smoke try and see your home from a potential buyers point of view - deal with any unpleasant odours wherever possible.
  • If you have any unnecessary furniture, and it is possible to store it elsewhere, do as this will increase the feeling of spaciousness. 

Points to consider on the day of viewings

Prior to a viewing ensure that your home appears bright and airy by opening blinds and curtains and putting on lamps or lights if it is dull outside.  If you are presenting your property during cold weather, put the heating on and make the property homely and welcoming.

Don’t give a potential buyer a reason to walk away - give them reasons to want to buy your home.
